Crown King is named after the Crowned King Mine, discovered in the early 1870s. The mine was supposed to be the biggest bonanza of the "Bradshaw Excitement".
As the closest escape from Phoenix summer heat, Crown King has become a mecca of rentals, nearby camping spots and private cabins.
